Privacy Policy

Unfreeze ("we", "our", "the app") is a public speaking confidence coach for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

Third-Party AI Processing — At a Glance

What: Your voice recording (audio file) and the text transcription of it.
To whom: OpenAI, Inc. (openai.com), a third-party AI service provider based in the United States.
Why: To transcribe your speech (Whisper API) and generate personalized coaching feedback (GPT-4o-mini model).
How long: OpenAI does not retain API data for training. Audio and transcripts are deleted after processing.
Your control: You are asked for explicit consent before any voice data is sent. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → AI & Privacy.

1. Data We Collect

Unfreeze collects the following data, all of which is stored locally on your device unless explicitly stated otherwise:

Name and onboarding answers — your first name, event type, timeline, and diagnostic question responses. Stored locally.
Voice recordings — audio captured during practice sessions. Processed via a third-party AI service (see Section 3) and not stored on any external server after processing.
Session data — scores, words per minute, filler word counts, transcripts, and coaching tips. Stored locally on your device.
Profile photo — if you choose to set one. Stored locally on your device.
Notification preferences — whether reminders are enabled and your preferred reminder time. Stored locally.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide personalized speaking coaching and feedback
To track your progress over time (streak, confidence score, session history)
To send you daily reminders and event countdown notifications (if enabled)
To manage your subscription via RevenueCat

3. Voice Data & Third-Party AI Processing

When you record your voice in Unfreeze, the following data is sent to OpenAI (openai.com) for processing:

Your audio recording is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for speech-to-text transcription.
The resulting text transcript is sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model to generate personalized coaching feedback.

Important:

No voice recordings or transcripts are stored on OpenAI's servers beyond the time needed to process your request.
OpenAI does not use data sent via API for training their models (per their API data usage policy).
We do not sell, share, or use your voice data for any purpose other than providing you with speaking feedback within the app.
You will be asked for explicit consent before any voice data is sent for AI processing.

4. Subscription & Payment Data

Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat and Apple's App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information (credit card, Apple ID, etc.). RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to manage your subscription status.

5. Data Storage & Security

All personal data (name, session history, scores, preferences) is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage (AsyncStorage). We do not operate a backend server. No personal data is transmitted to our servers at any time.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by going to Settings → Delete My Data in the app. This permanently removes all locally stored data including your name, session history, scores, and preferences.

7. Third-Party Services

OpenAI (openai.com) — voice transcription and AI coaching feedback. See Section 3.
RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — subscription management. Receives anonymous user ID only.
Apple App Store — payment processing and app distribution.

8. Children's Privacy

Unfreeze is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
